It's 2:00am...

and I can't sleep. I was woken up by a phone call at 1:30am and now I can't go back to sleep. I really don't like not being able to fall asleep!

Pictures Galore!

I am going to Costco tomorrow and am going to get the pictures on the digital camera's memory card all printed out. There's something like 218 pictures, some from all of the way back in November! You never know, you just might see a picture of YOU!

Stay tuned...!

Woo Hoo...You CAN do it!

I drove down to Paso Robles (a city about 2 hours south of Fresno) today at the crack of dawn (actually it was before the crack of dawn, because it was still completely dark when we left at 5am this morning) with my friend Art to cheer on and support my friend, his girlfriend, Emily as she took part in a half marathon run (that's 12.1 miles).

It was early, but well worth it. We got to cheer and scream and jump as runners of all ages from all backgrounds ran past us in hopes of being that much closer to finishing the race. Adrenaline was in the air and excitement built as all the runner lined up on the line. It was exciting and fun to be a part of (even though I did run in the race).

That's still on my list of things to do in the next 2 years...and it will not be erased or crossed off until it's complete.

In other words, get your running shoes out again D...!

Pictures to come soon!

Just Follow The Light

Most large churches in smaller towns have a lit up cross on their building, visible from far away for all to see. Just an observation.

Think about it... I think you'll find it's true.

Seems Like...

Every time I turn on the TV there is a furniture store commercial on. And these commericials are always offering "no payments until...2015..." or something outrageous like that! These commercials bug me more than any other...

Actually, I think political campagin commercials bug me more.

5 Things Most People Don't Know About Me: Part 2

Here we go again...I tried to think of some good ones:

1. I prefer to eat cooked carrots over raw ones.

2. One of my life goals is to travel to all 7 continents - 2 down...5 to go!

3. Up until the age of 5 I would only wear my socks inside out--I was a special child.

4. I like the smell of gasoline.

5. At the age of 22 I've never in my life been able to do a successful cart wheel.

I Love Sundays

Here's Why:

10:00am - Wake Up

10:30 - Breakfast/TV Watching

11:30 - Gym

1:30 - Lunch

2:00 - Shower

2:15 - Nap

5:00 - Church

6:30 - Dinner

8:00 - Shopping at Target

9:30 - Home/Conversations with people who stop my apartment

12:00am - Bed Time!

Did I mention that I love Sundays.

Makes You Wonder...

I was just watching a Sunday morning news program on ABC and apparently every week they list the names of US Military men and women who have been in killed in the war in Iraq/Afghanistan within the past 7 days. This week they listed the names of 32 men, all of which were between the ages of 20-29 years old.

That's my generation. And that's 32 men. And that's only one week.

Benny "The Jet" Rodriguez: Update

So I've been told by a reliable source (J.lo) that our boy "Benny" is now a fire fighter in L.A. Wow. Something tells me that our boy is still good looking. Did I mention he was only 28?

J.lo he's only 28...and we both said we always wanted to marry a Fire Fighter...(cough, cough) So in other words, we need to move to LA, buy a house, set it on fire and pray that he is working and responds that night! Makes sense, right?

But is he married? That's the question we still need to find out...

Benny "The Jet" Rodriguez

I love the movie The Sandlot. My brother and I watched it all the time while growing up. I always had a secret cruch on Benny (Benny "The Jet" Rodriguez that is). Dang skippy he was one cute boy. And I just found out he is 28 years old...so within my league...but he could be married--I'll get back to you on that one. Or do you know, is he married?

I am watching The Sandlot as I type this--I promise this wasn't a completley random post, just paritially random.

I'm Scared

It was 85 degrees today in Fresno, California...and it's only March. I'm scared to think what the summer might be like...

Did someone say global warming???

I'm Moving!

Come May, I'll be moving into a new apartment...less than 200 feet away from my current apartment, but still, it's a move. I'm excited. I think my excitement mostly comes from the fact that I'll have a real kitchen in my new apartment. I currently have what would be called a "kitchenette" and it's just a tad small and awkward.

I cooked dinner on Tuesday night for a friend and me, and though it worked out fine, it's difficult to cook because there just doesn't seem to be enough space for everything.

Okay, time out. I really have NO room to complain about "space" and such things--this whole post clearly shows that I live in America where we have issues with space and personal space. But I am excited to be moving into a different apartment with a full kitchen--then I can really get my cook on.

Shake your tail fetha.

Sex God

I'm in the process of reading "Sex God" by Rob Bell. Actually, I'm in the process to listening to this book. I downloaded it from Amazon.com. I love being able to sit and listen to it--it just seems so much more relaxing to me. Call me lazy...or call me a genius, but either way, this has been a good book so far. I'm at chaper 6 and can't wait to listen to more.

Here's a synopsis of the book for ya...

"God and sex go together. You can’t separate the two, says Rob Bell, because this physical world is intimately linked to deeper spiritual realities. And so, in order to make sense of sexuality, at some point you have to talk about God. With beauty and unusual insight, Sex God explores this connection."

So if you're looking for a good book to read or ummm, listen to, I would throw this one into the mix. The basic premise of the book talks about the endless connections between spirituality and sexuality. As humans we have a desire for both and Rob Bell does a good job of discussing/explaining how these two were not meant to be seperate from one another.

Editors Note: I tried to find a picture of the book but I had a heck of a time, so google it and check it out for yourself

Frijoles and Tortillas

Sorry for the lack of posts the past few days. I went to Mexico with a group of students from FPU on a Border Study Tour - studying the migration and immigration issues surrounding the border between Arizona and Mexico. I learned and experienced a lot and am glad I took advantage of the opportunity that was presented to me, even if it was last minute.

But I am so tired. We drove about 13 hours today from Tucsan to Fresno. Time for bed. Just wanted to give a heads up that I'm alive and well. I'll post pictures and more stories soon.

Oh and seriously I ate frijoles (beans) and tortillas at EVERY meal this week. It was delicious every time! And no, I didn't drink the water.

I Ate It...Hard...Again

On Friday morning I followed my normal routine and went running with my friend Emily about 7:30am. We run about a three mile course and the first 0.5 miles of the run were great. The air was crisp and the sun was shining. Our route runs along side railroad tracks, which A.) I don't know is the saffest and B.) Actually I know it's not the safest. I ran by the tracks by myself once and I will NEVER do that again...just a little too shady for me...like the perfect murder scene...

Okay, I admit it, I watch too many of those crime shows.

So every time Emily and I run by the tracks there is always a whole bunch of junk on the side that people dump, even though it is a NO DUMPING area. There is a TON of junk--old mattress, metal pipes, couch cushions, bags of trash, wooden boards and nails, etc...

It's kind of like an obstacle course when we run because we have to jump over random items that are on the running path. You would think one of us would trip over some of this stuff--but we haven't yet. No, you see I managed to jump over and run around all the junk and trip on a rock. Yes, a rock.

Em and I were running when all of the sudden my foot hit a rock that was stuck in the ground and I began to fall in what felt like slow motion. Natural instinct set in and I tried to catch myself but just scrapped up the palms of my hands in the process. In the end, I had two scraped up palms, a scraped knee and a bruised thigh.

Not bad for a morning run. It wasn't as bad as this, but it brought back memories of it.

"Bring It...Oh It's Already Been Brought"

J.lo and I met up and had pizza tonight--good pizza at that. And as usual, we stayed in the place until it closed and they kindly asked us to leave. But because they were closing, they asked us if we wanted all the pizza that was leftover that they were just going to throw out. Of course, being girls, who LOVE to eat, we said yes. She put it all in one HUGE box (seriously, this box can't even fit in my fridge) and she gave us a smaller box to divide the pizza up for both of us.

J.lo and I played paper/rock/scissor, best 2 out of 3 to see who got to use the smaller box and who had to take the super massively big box home.

She brought her A Game and won. I lost.

Next time, I'll bring my A Game J.lo and will bust out my mad skills and we'll paper/rock/scissor it up again. Wow, saying all that, I sounded a lot like my brother.

And j.lo, you can rub my back anytime. haha...oh wait, that doesn't work in this sitch...

Endoscopy

I have to have one. Check it. I'm not too excited. But it's not for three weeks. I'll keep you posted.
