If you could recommend one book that was really impactful or insightful for you what would you recommend?
As always, there is a reason for this...and I'll let you know in a few days. I'd love to hear your recommendations though. Thanks in advance...!

A New Kind of Christian trilogy by Brian McClaren (ok, so it's 3 books, but you can't read just one!)
i will say... the tao of pooh. very, very cute, and with illustrations!
and oooooooh, lisajean i love those books! i've only read two so far, but they are definitely some of my favorites!
okay, actually that was just the first thing that came to mind.
other books that are incredibly impactful...
definitely the mclaren series, the bell jar by sylvia plath, the irresistible revolution by shane claiborne, anything by chaim potok, the awakening by kate chopin, les miserables by victor hugo, a clockwork orange by anthony burgess, anything by donald miller but you already know that. : )
Louisa May Alcotts Little Women taught me how to be a lady in all ways, and what to look for in a man, and Searching for God Knows What by Donald Miller showed me the importance of a personal relationship with God...and what to look for in a man =)
The Giver by Louis Lowry. Definitely still a favorite of mine even though I read it for the first time when I was 12.
I can't do just one. I tried... but it kept me from doing any list at all.
So...
everything by Donald Miller
Severe Mercy by Sheldon Vanauken
Sacred Romance by John Eldredge
Cry the Beloved Country by Alan Paton
The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck
A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving
Yes I Can by Sammy Davis Jr. (first memoir I ever read--I was in 6th grade and I was blown away by his experiences with bigotry)
To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee
The Letters of E.B. White
Miriam's Kitchen by Elizabeth Ehrlich
My Name is Asher Lev by Chaim Potok
Ok I'll stop now. But I could go on for days...

Definitely A Complicated Kindness just because I'm Mennonite and it made me think of my decision to go to a public high school against the will of my parents and church. I totally felt shunned like this family. But if we're going with books in the "literary canon," I would have to go with Fahrenheit 451. How could you burn books!!!???
